After the meeting, all jurors got interviewed individually by Tony PR company on behalf of the German media. Canadian director Kathryn Bree Fitzgerald, President of the Pre-selection Committee this year, gave a high praise of Golden Tree International Documentary Film Festival, and explained the characteristics of the shortlisted films. She pointed out that the pre-selection team members are all professionals who love documentaries and the entire selection process was rigorous and orderly. In addition, from the industry trend, the proportion of female directors in the 3rd Golden Tree International Documentary Film Festival finalists was very impressive, 25 to 30 percent. The result was very encouraging! Professor Zhang Tongdao, Documentary Center Director of Beijing Normal University, author of China's first documentary Blue Book China Documentary Development Research Report, said, ”the Golden Tree Festival is an international cultural event and an international art event. The Iranian films during this selection are impressive and very powerful. People who suffer in life have complete filming techniques and aesthetics. I watched many films of the Middle East and Africa. The moving stories come from the impoverished areas, and the stories of the people who are poor and have suffered unfair treatment also bring us the touch of the soul.”
After the pre-selection work, the organizing committee will start the screening plan for the shortlisted films. Look forward to the third Golden Tree International Documentary Film Festival in September.
